Author Q&A – Next Thursday, August 7

I’m especially excited for our Author Q&A with Carlyn Montes De Oca next Thursday! I’ve been working on a list of thoughtful questions for her—about writing, publishing, platform-building, and more—and this conversation will be valuable whether or not you’ve read the book.

Carlyn is one of those rare authors who enjoys marketing and has a lot of insights to share from her own publishing journey. I’m looking forward to hearing more about her creative process and how she got her story out into the world.

If you’re attending tonight, I’d love to hear your questions too—what would you want to ask an author like Carlyn? I’ll be adding a few community suggestions to the list before Thursday.
👉 View the Q&A question list in progress

A few sample questions already on the list:

  • What was the most surprising part of the publishing process for you?

  • Did you share your writing with your family before publishing? How did they react to your book?

  • What advice would you give to someone building a platform who doesn’t like self-promotion?

🎨 Save the Date: Canva for Authors – Sunday, August 31

I’m also putting together a fun, practical class on Canva for Authors, happening Sunday, August 31. We’ll go over:

  • Navigating Canva with confidence

  • Using templates as inspiration and time savers

  • Designing book covers, social media posts, and more

Whether you’re brand-new to Canva or already using it a bit, this class will be geared toward helping writers showcase their work in a polished, creative way. More details coming soon—mark your calendar now!

Hope to see many of you tonight, and definitely at next week’s Q&A.
As always, thank you for being part of this creative, supportive community.

Warmly,
Christina
